Christmas 2012 - Little Vintage ''Washstand"

I've always loved vintage washstands (a love which was instilled in me during childhood by my oh-so-talented mother, who one day found one, and brought it home from one of her ''infamous treasure hunts''.... she and/or daddeee refinished it, and it was always in the corner of our living room.... hanging over it, was another treasure find: the old bird cage she painted gold with the faux fern and little finch inside).....

so when grandmommy gave me this little adorable bookstand-table, and a friend gave me this adorable shelf, i teamed them up and made a "Lil Washstand" area for my vintage linens and dreams.........

ha...my cute little wooden house BEFORE i blew out those darn candles and spilled wax on the roof...oh my i'm such a dang ditz!!!........

my daddeeee's mother made that little white yarn wreath in her 90's....he gave it to me last year to go along with the crochet'd candle and candybowl holder she made me when i got married in 1980....born in the late 1800's, my first year married was her last christmas, and i treasure these mementos of her handiwork........ she used to crochet us vests and ponchos in the 60's so we could be groovy baby~! lololol.....
my mother gave me that adorable wooden house,  gazebo &  victorian greeting card behind it and the little tree......more stuff she found on her treasure hunts.

i just found these 2 adorable watering cans for .25cents a piece at a yard sale last month....i love them......
part of my collection of vintage linens & crocheted doilies.....faux vintage signs......little round sweetgum pine cones from our yard........

for some christmas cheer, one day i made the glittery pipecleaner wreath,  and the wreath for the door from bread ties......i love simple easy ''found crafts'' like that.....whip 'em up and you're good to go....
adorable....i love how the vintage crocheted placemat's scalloped edge looks against the dark patina of the decorative edge of the table.........i live for cute little decorative details like that that catch your eye, lol......

we are gonna ignore the fact that i always forget that when you pick up a candle to blow it out, it drips wax all over the place if you tilt it..............ergo: we will figure out how to get that dabbnabbit wax off the top of my dang wooden house!!.......incredible how dumb i am at times...over 50 yrs of blowing out candles, you'd think i could remember that by now!! lololol.......we live, god laughs :)

Christmas 2012 ~ Living Room Tree - #1

~Welcome and Merry Christmas~.....please excuse the rose topiary on the left of the doorway, our huge marmaduke sized labrador mixed muttster dog loves to stand in that doorway and bark at the top of his lungs at us to ''hurry up bark bark bark, and get done with your dang bark bark bark dinner, so that i can bark bark bark have your leftovers, bark bark bark nag nag nag wag wag wag my bull-inna-china-shop tail all over mommy's pretty red rose topiary till it flings itself petal by petal onto the floor and is now leaning over like the red-rose-topiary-tower of pizza".....lol...

I love how the tree lights reflect across the room onto the dress of the renoir poster....so sigh dreamy....always such a treat when beautiful surprises like that happen.......makes you feel like the angels do watch over us always, to help you along in life & to see the beauty and light in the world.......
I wanted pink ornaments, so my daughter and i made these one year.... we pulled out all the pastel acrylic bottles we had, mixed some colors of our own, painted, and covered them with iridescent glitter and bobbles.....fun night crafting Christmas memories.....darlin', us girls do so love to paste and create, lol....

This photo below shows the bird painting to the right of my dressing table, i can't decide if i want it on that wall, or next to the paintings going down the hallway......so for now,  it sits undecided, like so much else around here that refuses to get into it's designated place....oh sigh, always up to me, poor lil susie all tuckered out and don't wanna decorate no mo.... lol.....where's my cookies on this post!?!. ;p
I love this view into the warm cozy wood walls of our dining room....
I made that shabby wreath (above photo) last year.....it adds the perfect soft accent to the other romantic decor....

I love how this grouping on each side frames the doorway entrance into our dining room...and yes, one day a christmas miracle will occur and i will finish painting the living room!!! glory halleluiah when that day finally comes! lol......it's a beautiful color of behr, uhmmm coffee something or other.......opps i know, so long since i trimmed it out, i now forget the hue! plus have to start all over or it won't match!...lol........i'm slow as molasses, lololol.......so for now, just enjoy the christmas pretties <3

hello wonderful free wreath i made from stuff i had on hand...i love you, you are scrumptious and look divine, serene and softly romantic....the perfect touch and just what i needed to help complete this room.....

Thank you for stopping by.....Merry Christmas from our Hearts to Your's.....susie <3

Chrismas 2012 ~ Pink Candy Cane Tree ~ #1

My Pink Candy Cane Tree.....Inspired by all the gorgeous candy trees out there, I came up with this one for my sewing/art/dollhouse room work table....it's a sweet little round patio table in the center of my room that is so cute and practical, the best combo! (won't get ruined by paints, etc. while I make my artsy-crafty-creations messes....lol).....usually it has projects, decorating magazines and the like all over it....but now it's spic-n-span (threw a lace panel over the mess, lololol heheheheeeee)....the base of the tree is a vintage lamp shade that I kept for the pretty bell shape, so I'm thrilled to have found at least a place to store it for now, lololol...
The Pink lucite cupcake on the right,  was found at K-mart's Christmas Section last year for $1.  I wrapped a piece of vintage yellow lace edging around it to cute'n it up, and it holds my Christmas ornament hangers (which i keep out all year since i seem to constantly find uses for them!)......the clear container holds my thumbtacks....my sewing room is on it's way...I'm trying to decorate it in a ''shabby chic ice-cream shoppe-meets-french patisserie-meets-couture-meets-baby shop-meet-this southern girl who's sewed some stuff-meets-painted some things-meets-glued some junk-meets-dollhoused up the joint and gone-fishin" motif!!....lol....

I love pastels in ice-cream colors....pink is my favorite color.....i have attempted to do my sewing/art room in shabby chic all white...i have clearly failed!! lololololol.......i think i'm too cheerful for all white, which i love, but i think it's too subdued for me in tone...i try to get there.....but cheery pinks and pretty hues just seem find their way in any room i do.....so for now, my all-white-big-girl-grown-up-soooooo-sophisticated-elegant-glamour-lady sewing room is still a dream, lol......

Welcome to Susie's pink cotton candy brain!....anyways.....there is a pink/green/white vintage crochet'd doily over the lampshade on the bottom....then i put the glass and it evolved from there..........did i get to cover it with lollipops and santy clauses?? apparently not yet! lol....and i think it's fine the way it is.......i was going to do more....but then i got tired and figured less is more ;0

can i go back to my small case ''i'' yet? this capitalizing things is exhausting!!!!!! ......who has time to do this and dream all day ??? lol.......that's one extra button to push and ya'll  know grammer by now, who am i to tell you how to talk when all i do is drawl????????

The whole "icecream shoppe'' idea came from my love of ice-cream and all sweets....(i worked at carvel as a teen)...my daughter painted that beautiful lavender icecream painting when she was 13, and my mother gave me that striped pink 'n cream vintage fabric and the little white vintage napkins that are under each end by the roses.....the roses fabric were pillow cases, given to me by dami's mom, so i combined our 2 moms and sewed their contributions into the perfect icecream shoppe valance.....insto-presto: Little Susie's Cottage Sweet Shop Icecream Land Sewing/Art/Dollhouse Room!......thanks women who love me! <3.....the wall paint is presently white, i bought the Behr's "pink feather" color of paint at Lowe's,  it's a GORGEOUS frenchy-looking pale blush hue....have i done it yet? ...uhmmm that answer would be ''nope''....lol

But i did do this......lolol...and this was fun:

Breezy painted the icecream girl when she was 13 and i think it's quite splendid...(i put some wedding appliques on her head to make it look like an iridescent sequined cap which is not showing up in this photo, and mounted the entire thing on to some polka-dot fabric taped to a piece of cardboard)..this is why dami call's me "Susie McGyver''..........anyways....

i drew that blue charcoal of Breezy on the left of the ice-cream painting she did....we tried poitraits of each other one day in about 30 minutes and i thought mine looked just like her so i kept it......she however, dumped mine in the trash...why? because she was 14, heheheheeeeee.....brats! i have 2!.......so that is bri, me and on the left on the sewing machine cabinet, is a little ble pitcher my great-grandmother painted in ceramics class in her 90's....my grandmother gave it to me.....so there is 5 generations of art right in that corner from the women of my family......all of whom taught me to sew and be creative, a legacy i have instilled in both my (brats) children sweet angels of mine...lolol

i love these colors...and i love circles....so i'm very happy with this lil' Pink Candy Cane Christmas Tree...i was going to add ornaments, but i think it's just fine with just the little pink bows dami found for me at a garage sale, i love pink bow surprises and sweet thoughtful men who encourage me to create & craft to my heart's content ....dear god, maybe he loves me....let me know tonight in my dreams...oh, dami also surprised me with that adorable little yellow pie on that wire stand in the back on the left...it's a vintage sewing pin cushion holder, you open it up and the cushion holds your pins, i'll do a post on it sometime, it's adorable...ok, fine, so he does love me.......do i still have to make dinner, can't i blog instead? lol.... <3

Thank you for coming bye to see my lil' pink candy cane tree...i hope you enjoyed all the pix...~ susie <3
