Yellow Labradors and Daffodils ... in remembrance of our Beloved Sundance & Shadow ~ 1999 - 2015

Our sweet yellow lab puppy Sunny passed this month....sure, he was 16 yrs old, lol....but he still ACTED like he did when he was little, lol....we'd take him to the vet and he'd exclaim ''this is the healthiest 10yr old dog I've ever seen!''....it was like that every year, lol....he was always so playful & hyper and full of joy and jokes, lol....

A joyful silly soul Sunny has, and we will miss him always, but feel so ever blessed to have shared so many days together with this delightful loving spirit .......

We got Sunny and Shadow (2 brothers) the year they were born back in 1999, and now they have both passed ...so we've decided to created a Doggie Memory Garden for them.....

When we first got these 2 crazy mutts, we still lived in the tiny little vintage Baby Doll Cottage....

One of our neighbors had the most beautiful Cherry tree, and we just think that kind of tree, with it's cheerful happy Spring color, is perfect to reflect the memories of Sunny & Shadow,  our beloved boys

I took these pix of their Cherry tree when we lived over there...I love it's puffy pink blooms cascading over the entry path...so beautiful...

I'm pretty sure this is a Kwanzan Cherry tree....whatever it is, we're going to get a cherry tree like this, and then figure out what kind of pretty flowers we'd like to get for the flower bed around it........

The spot we picked out in the yard seems to be good....the Sun rays have been streaming down each day the Sun's been out, so hopefully this spot will be good for a Pretty 'n Pink Cherry tree to bloom each Spring......

Our neighbors yellow Daffodils and pretty purple Crocuses came up this week, so I snapped pix of them...

These neighbors are so sweet, all of our neighbors are actually, lol.... they always let me come over and take pix of their pretty Spring blooms every year....

They also have offered to let me dig up some of these bulbs for our yard, but so far, I figure they are so gorgeous and doing well, I don't want to move any of them, they keep saying ''oh they transplant so well !'', but we'll probably just get some bulbs and stuff and start anew..........

We may get some yellow daffodils, or crocuses like these, or some tulips for our Memory Garden...we'll see.........

so far, the dirt looks good......lol....

I really love the circle, it reminds me of a those water fountains in Italy,  or like you see in some pretty park in a romantic city or enchanting fairy tale garden oasis .... like Charleston, without the "lurking ghosts and tons of tourists" aspects, lolololol....

I've thought about putting  a bunch of miniature boxwood balls in a little low hedge all the way around the circle's perimeter, to keep the circle formed like they have that low cement wall to sit on in city fountains, but then that may block the flowers inside of it from view.......

hopefully we'll decide what all we'd like to put in there at some point....at least for now we know we want a cherry tree........lol....

anyways......

Sunny's golden spirit is among the rays of the warming Sun, and Shadow's loving spirit is in the light of the Moon & we are forever  blessed to have the best doggies in the world to give us so many laughs and heartwarming memories to fill our hearts with love.....

Sunny & Shadow ~ the Sun & Moon....

Together they were the light of the world and all the colors in the universe...reflecting upon our hearts each
and every moment we shared....

I named Sundance after Robert Redford's movie studio, because he was blonde and the most handsome boy you ever wanted to meet, elegant as all get out....he always reminded me of Redford,  and then when we got him and were around him more, I realized he was silly as all get out, such a redneck, and he had the most elegant Beauregard of the manor way about him, lol.....

what a character he was:  blonde, regal, legs a mile long, and such a zany sense of humor....Sunny'd do anything for a laugh, as well as laugh at all my silly jokes, and that's when I realized and started to believe that Sunny had the spirit of my grandaddy in him...same personalty....so silly and fun he was,  and shared my love of snacking all day long and my incurable sweet tooth, lol.......and adored me and me right back at him, all those qualities, just like my granddaddy....lololol.....so that's when I started calling him Sunny, he was all too silly for his formal given name, lol....

I named Shadow because he was always so smart and liked keeping an eye on things, in his silent ways, and he'd always let me know when something was going on ....one time Bobbi snuck out of the house and Shadow barked up a storm until I realized he was trying to tell me something, and sure enough, Bobbi was hiding under the shed out back, and here I was in my P.J.'s at 7AM, with a piece of bologna rubber-banded to the end of my mop,  sticking it under the stupid shed trying to coax that dang kitten to get her rotten self out from underneath that shed, and get herself BACK into the dang house! lol.....

Shadow is an old slang word for ''detective'' and sure to his name, Shadow always earned that title!........lol.....

Sunny & Shadow gave us many funny tales and zany antics like that to remember them by....lol...

Our two most precious doggies, cutest yellow lab dogs you'd ever want to see,  both lived long glorious lives, and gave us so much blessed love for many, many years......

Sunny and Shadow will be so dearly missed by us all,  but will forever live within our hearts <3 ......~ Susie...

The Simple Beauty of Morning Glory Blooms...

Our first 4 morning glories bloomin' on the fence! yay....

Up until now, I've grown them from seeds in pots & enjoyed letting them cascade whimsically over the edge of my potting table every Summer.....This year, I decided to line the pots along this lil' retaining wall to see how they looked......I think they look reeeeeel cottage sweet & pretty here, lolol, so next year I'll put seeds in the ground and grow them on the fence permanently where they will reseed themselves every year <3

Our neighbor's pretty lilac crepe myrtle blooming right now....I love those trees...
Okie, that wraps up with our first 4 Morning Glory Blooms on the fence.....I love their heart shaped leaves and how fresh they always look in the morning to greet the Summer sunshine.....

Next year I'll plant more and they will be all filled in really pretty....We've had purple ones like these, and the classic blues and pinks over the years, as well as white ones...... I think any of the colors would be charming here, but I think I like these violet blues the best for this area.......

All the lush greens of this season, mixed with the colors & heart shaped leaves of Morning Glory vines, are always so refreshing to the senses & soothing to the soul....~ Susie <3.
